Hi,

I am thinking seriously of moving to Valencia and I have 2 questions about Valencia. What is the weather like there? Is it normally 80′s and 90′s or 70′s and 80′?

And are there many insects like knats and flies that can make picnics uncomfortable? I am from Florida and really dislike the extreme heat 80′s and high 90′s and 90% humidity and also the bugs here which makes for unpleasant times outdoors. Thank you, John

When it comes to getting yourself ready for international tour, some outings are prepared meticulously during a period of months or years. At the same time, other journeys often take place rather sporadically: perhaps you experience a whole lot in the Sunday papers or on the internet and you impulsively purchase it.

In either case, in terms of organizing a trip, specific things should be taken into consideration. There is a routine, the reservations for your plane, train or ship, your luggage, clothing, and entertainment stuff like books or a Music player. And, for that savvy voyager who not like to leave out almost anything to chance: medical travel insurance.

Medical travel insurance is a thing which addresses your expenditures in case you have any sort of accident or get sick during your journey. The explanation for getting this sort of travel insurance is two-fold: doing this offers you the the reassurance of realizing that you aren’t jeopardizing yourself excessive from the financial standpoint, should something get wrong clinically. And, you have the substantially more crucial part: realizing that you’ll be provided every accessible possibility from a medical viewpoint to be effectively taken care of after experiencing this type of medical misfortune.

One thing to keep in mind isn’t to be frustrated. While obtaining this type of insurance policy can often be a bit more disheartening than usual, and however, you might need to go through several insurers to locate one that’s ideal, it’s still the situation that you’re going to be able to always locate a perfect plan in case you keep searching.

You might not locate something perfect instantly, but individuals are obtaining similar insurance in spite of their existing circumstances constantly, and you simply have to keep hunting.
One thing to deal with right away is that you simply grab yourself a Health Insurance Card, if you’re planning on going to abroad on your journeys. This card fundamentally enables you to make sure that you are entitled to obtain suitable health care during any trip. This is particularly essential when it comes to those medical treatments which may cost you a good deal of money and be beyond the capability to afford up-front. It is usually vital that you be appropriately protected by a medical policy in such cases.

You may undoubtedly start your quest for ideal medical travel insurance online, and you’ll probably find a way to know something in regards to the active plans for those who need travel cover for pre existing health conditions which can be found by several firms.
Timed to the launch of Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” Collection 6 Part 1 DVD and the busy holiday travel season, Anthony Bourdain, the chef, author and host offers his top 5 travel tips on how to survive travel nightmares and make the most of any trip.

Below please find Anthony’s TOP FIVE TIPS to make holiday travel less hassle, and more fun!

Eat like a local. Wherever you are, eat what the locals are good at or famous for, and eat where those locals like to eat it. Do not rely on your concierge for dining tips. He’s in the business of making tourists happy. You want the places that make locals happy. Seek out places crowded with locals. Avoid places where others of your kind are present.

Show appreciation. People everywhere like it when you are appreciative of their food. I cannot stress enough how important your initial reactions to offerings of local specialties are to any possible relationships you might make abroad. Smile and try to look happy, even if you don’t like it. If you do like it, let them know through word or gesture of appreciation.

Visit local markets. Get up early and check out the central food market. It’s a fast way into a culture, where you’ll see the basics of the cuisine. You’ll often find local prepared foods at stands or stalls serving markets’ workers.

Travel prepared. Be prepared to be stuck in an airport for indeterminate periods of time. Load your mobile device with as many games, songs, apps, and e-books as possible to keep busy during long waits. Also, make sure to pack a battery charger to power up.

Get comfortable. Remember to bring something scrunchy and long-sleeved, like a sweatshirt. You might need it as a pillow.

Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” Collection 6 Part 1 DVD is now available on shelves and makes the perfect stocking stuffer for the jetsetter on your holiday list! Are you interested in featuring these tips? Also, please let me know if you would be interested in a copy of the DVD for review as I would be happy to send one your way!

I don’t know about you but when I book my holidays I can sometimes get bogged down by all the choice that I have when it comes to airlines, hotels, airports, parking and all the other bits and pieces that you have to consider when you book your fortnight way in the sun.

This is why Holiday Extras Customer Awards are such a great idea. They are run by the popular online travel company Holiday Extras. Their website offers a great place for travellers to find the best deals and the best companies who will offer all of those little necessary extras that are very important to your holiday, like airport parking and airport hotels.

For the last three years though Holiday Extras have been going that one extra step and have been allowing the users of their website to choose who they think are the best companies right now in the travel industry.

The winners are voted for by the customers of Holiday Extras and this is a great way to allow the public a platform to let others know who are the top performing companies in the industry at the moment.

Here are the top picks for 2011 as voted for by the customers of Holiday Extras:

- Best Airline: Emirates
- Best Airline Cabin Crew: Emirates
- Best Airline for Value for Money : easyJet
- Best Airport: Belfast International
- Best Airport Car Park: Edinburgh Park and Fly
- Best Airport Hotel: Gatwick Sofitel
- Best Travel Guide Publisher: Lonely Planet

Two more categories were added this year and they were the categories for the most inspirational travel film (which was won by Shirley Valentine) and the best travel guide publisher (which was won by the Lonely Planet Travel Guides).

This year’s awards were held in London on September 15th, The awards were hosted by the well-known travel writer and radio presenter Simon Calder and the fact that he lent his name to the awards this year just goes to show just how important they are becoming in the travel industry.

Next year’s awards are already being planned and Holiday Extras have announced that they plan on adding even more categories to the awards and will be inviting more people to vote. This year over 66,000 people voted which was triple the amount of people who voted for last year’s wards – which just proves how these wards are gathering momentum

As the Capital of Guangdong province, Guangzhou is the largest city in South China and one of its most prosperous. The urban and cosmopolitan image is only one facet of this Cantonese city famous for its business and foreign trade. A closer look will reveal a rich culture and history that lies beneath the infinite skyline of modern buildings and skyscrapers in this mega city of the Pearl River Delta.

Amongst the towering financial buildings and shiny high rises, Guangzhou is interspersed with museums, extensive flower parks, street markets and of course the famous Pearl River. Expect to be amazed by this modern city that still retains pockets of its character from an earlier period of China.

Low fares airline Jetstar will begin flying Singapore-Guangzhou from 22 December 2011* (subject to regulatory approval). Here are five recommendations from Jetstar on how to have a good time in Guangzhou:

1. Take a walk at Yuexiu Park, where the Statue of the Five Rams and Zhenhai Tower reside. The statue, built in 1959, is the emblem of Guangzhou city. The 93 hectares park also houses the 28-meter high Zhenhai Tower, which sits atop Yuexiu hill. First built in 1380 to protect the city from pirates, the tower was destroyed five times over the past 600 years and is now home to the Guangzhou City Museum, which showcases relics and documents covering over 2000 years of Guangzhou’s history. After visiting the still waters and hills of Yuexiu park and walking down its shady, tree-lined paths, you can also cross the street to the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King – home to the remains of Zhao Mo, the ruler of Nanyue who died in 111BC. His Jade burial suit and other fine treasures are also on display at the museum. For the more adventurous, his tomb itself is also open for exploration.

2. Indulge in Cantonese cuisine at its gastronomic best. As the city that boasts the largest number of restaurants per capita in China, Guangzhou is well known for its mouth watering Cantonese cuisine. Whether you are eating Guangzhou’s famous Roast Suckling Pig, exquisite Dim Sum or humble Wanton noodles, it will be hard to leave this food paradise hungry.

3. Stand at the top of Canton tower, the tallest structure in China. The top of this 600-metre tower has a rooftop observation carousel where passenger cars circle an elliptical track. It promises a spectacular and breathtaking view of Guangzhou’s glittery city skyline at 450 metres high. For a more invigorating visit, you can also physically climb up the tower to the open-air skywalk, which found at the waist of the structure – 180 metres above ground.

4. Take a night cruise down the Pearl River. When night falls, the Pearl River immediately takes on a life of its own. The busy Guangzhou nightlife is just beyond the riverbanks, and the waters capture and reflect the magnificent lights of Guangzhou city at night. The Pearl River is dotted with shiny bridges that stand over its peaceful but shimmering waters. The Pearl River night cruise provides a beautiful and unparalleled view of Guangzhou city from its famous waters.

5. Shop in Guangzhou. Guangzhou is a shoppers’ paradise and with many shopping options from street markets to high-end malls, there is no doubt that shopping in Guangzhou entails good deals and great bargains. Street markets such as Qingping market, Flower Street and Jade Street are great places to find good bargains, exotic foods, herbs, snacks as well as arts and crafts. As the capital of Guangdong, Guangzhou also has many shopping centres to choose from. Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street is found in one of the oldest parts of the city and its buildings retain elements of Chinese architecture and olden day charm. Walking down its streets, without having to buy anything, is certainly an experience in itself!

December is an exciting time as chicks clamour for food and parents nosedive spectacularly into the water at up to 145km per hour in search of fish to feed their young. Fur seals regularly feed and rest at Oaia Island, 1.6km off the coast of Muriwai Beach. During spring, they are quite often seen sunbathing on the rocks below the gannet colony.

- Lovers of nature can explore the Royal Botanic Gardens – Melbourne on the Yarra’s South Bank. They are considered one of the best botanical gardens in the country and one of the finest worldwide.

- Take a dip in the free-flowing Telaga Waja River in Bali

When one attempts to “get away from it all” one often finds that the task is a lot easier said than done. In fact the definition of “it all” probably varies from person to person. But if you mean “it all” quite literally, then of course you mean you want to vacate from civilization as fast as possible. Unfortunately mankind has left its imprint on just about every beautiful location on Earth. With that said, there linger a few opportunities to witness the world as it once was before the arrival of people. The following are five places you can still count on to provide you and yours with an authentic natural travel experience:

Seychelles

Located amidst a sequence of 115 archipelago islands in the Indian Ocean, Seychelles is 50% natural preserve. That means half the country is off limits to the influences of human industry, commercialization, and residency. Seychelles also features 305 miles of paradise-grade beaches, providing visitors with a classic tropical experience.

Daintree National Park, Australia

The forests of northeast Australia are millions of years old, much like the forests of Northern California. Only instead of carving tunnels for cars through the ancient trees, the guardians of the rainforests of Daintree have chosen to preserve them as they have been for eons. One in particular is said to be over 2500 years old.

The Galapagos Islands

The isolation of the Galapagos and the resulting uniqueness of its fauna relative to the mainland is what originally inspired Charles Darwin in his establishment of the theory of evolution. Despite human settlement over the last century and a half and the occasional albeit memorable Galapagos cruise, little has changed. It’s still an incredibly diverse microcosm of natural selection and as beautiful a landscape as it was when Darwin first stepped ashore.

Papua New Guinea

It’s shocking to think that some realms of the world remain unseen by modern man, yet the interior of Papua New Guinea, located directly north of Australia, is an exception. The nation is already one of the most culturally diverse on Earth, with nearly 850 indigenous languages in existence as of 2011. It’s thought that countless undiscovered species of animal and plant life are yet to be discovered in Papua New Guinea.

Bhutan

When we think of the Himalayas, we typically think of the rigid mountaintops managed by Nepalese Sherpas or the utilitarian hillside outfits put together by Tibetan monks. But west of Nepal in the small landlocked country of Bhutan, 60% of the landscape remains covered by lush vegetation; mainly trees. Yet it still holds onto the Himalayan atmosphere by having beautiful preserved mountain ranges and deep valleys.

Getting away from it all is harder than it used to be. But it’s not impossible. If complete removal from civilization is what you seek, then consider the aforementioned destinations. They’re the few options you have at a truly natural experience.
